The manual states: "To detach remove the nuts and washers and free the taper pins by tapping the spindle arm and steering drop arm with a hide faced hammer......"
That may have worked in the first five years of the tractors life!!
I bought a tie rod end removing tool which worked. It has a wedge shaped end and slot in the wedge to accommodate the threaded rod. Took a few good hits but works well.
It would be simple to make - email me if you want a photograph.
Before reassembly, I cleaned the taper sections with emery back to bright metal, same inside the drop arms and reassembled with a liberal coating of graphite grease.
