I don't see an answer to OLD POSTING ,
same QUESTION / TROUBLE :

========================
(( OLD QUESTION : Posted by Byron Davenport on October 11, 2001 at 17:17:56 from (63.21.77.236):))
====================

I was bush hogging today and my PTO suddenly stopped working. I checked the lever position and it seems to stop just short of locking into gear for the PTO. I drained the fluid out of the gear box and took off the top lid where the shifters are and dug out 6-7 round rods,and 6-7 round rods withh a notch on the end and more of a rounded triangular shape. Further looking at the mechanism it looks like the steel pills may be from the clutch mechanism at the bottom of the gear box, for the PTO. How do I take this apart? Separate the engine? Rear transaxle? I don't have any sort of manual, but have worked on gear boxes for trucks before............Help???!!

Today's Featured Article - Using Your Tractor: Creating a Seed Bed - by Chris Pratt. When I bought my first old tractor, I had only one idea in mind. It wasn't the preservation of old iron since at that time, I was unaware that people even did this. It wasn't to show off my restoration skills (though I had tried my hand at a couple of old motorcycles in my teens and if I recall correctly, those old motorcycles were sold in boxes about one quarter finished). It wasn't to relive memories of Grampa, Dad or myself out on the back 40 nursing the Farmall pulling too many b ... [Read Article]
