: Heres one for you. My Oliver Super 55 has two 6 volt batteries. How does that fit into the equation. A couple of other things. I have jumped a 6 volt with a 12 with no harmful effects on ethier. I wouldn't want to hook them up for long, but it still works. The other thing. This is just anecdotal, but I had a 6 volt Willy's that strated great in the coldest weather while a lot of my neighbors with twelves couldn't get 'er goin'. Why? Not sure on the Oliver. I know some tractors and other equipment use a second battery for starting. With regard to the old 6 volt - there was nothing ever wrong with them, but they had to be maintained, especially battery connections. A well maintained 6Volt system will work every bit as well or better than a neglected 12 volt. Just that the 12 volt is a little more forgiving (and cheaper.). JerryU
