Hi Andrew: Good pictures of a very well built home. Looking at that staircase took me a while since I have built some but not as fancy as in the picture. Of course almost all of the home was built on location,if I had to guess. There were "Kit Homes" around the early 1900s and Yes Sears sold many that were pictured in their catalog. I was born and raised in a farm home that was built about 1890 but only 2 stories. Footings were about 3 foot wide of large stone and concrete. Solid and well built. It had REAL wood flooring. All us kids had great fun playing on the smooth well polished hardwood floors. My brother burned it down without even telling anyone else he was going to so he could put in a new factory built house. Amazing how cold some people get towards anything old or others who grew up there also. These pictures reflect just how much wealth some people really had back in early days of farming in the mid-west. Thanks for posting pictures. There were a lot of well built buildings back then. ag.
