Just found this "ray of hope" on weather.com. According to their very early predictions, it will make landfall somewhere in Texas. How much of the state will get some relief from the drought will depend on how the depression develops and where it goes.
"This disturbance has a few factors in its favor in the coming days including no interaction with land (the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico) and a warm body of water (temps in the mid 80s) to churn in.
So yes, the opportunity to thrive and grow in intensity is definitely there. The Weather Channel and weather.com will monitor its progress closely during the coming days.
Various computer weather models forecast that this disturbance (whether it be an ill-organized disturbance, TD or a TS) and its moisture will move toward the Texas coastline by late Friday night or early Saturday morning. And that"s the key right there, "Texas".
Texas needs this rain...it desperately needs the rain from this tropical entity. The state and adjacent states are in the middle of one the worst droughts on record for this part of the country. In fact, 75% of the state is considered to be in exceptional drought (the most intense)."
