Halletsville, Tx sale barn sold approx 3000 head last week, last year sold approx 1000 same week. Prices have dropped because the system is jammed up with volume. Record prices are in the future BUT have to get there. Hay prices IF you can find any are like gold. But in a lot of cases now lack of water is the problem. Had a friend sell his whole herd because he didn't have any water for them. I've got well water (for now) but will be out of hay in another 3 months. Ran out of grass a month ago. Been looking for hay for awhile now. Most I've found too high, $100 4x5 bale or baled on highway r-o-w, full of plastic, cups, beer cans. Bottom line is I probably will be out of cattle business too.
