Had a pizza afterward, and I asked if $10 an hour was OK- they were happy. It was 4 hours, so after I wrote the last of the $40 checks, I mentioned that when I did hay back in the dark ages, 4 hours work got me 5 bucks. The kids laughed, and one said, "Well, its 10 gallons of gas, and I'm happy to get it." I did some quick math, and said, "Yeah, back in the day, my 5 bucks would get me. . . hmmmm- 14 gallons."
Maybe 10 bucks an hour isn't so bad, after all.
That's a heck of a pile more than i got as a teenager for working a whole week.$ 2.50 was my cut wether it was fencing, cleaning barn or stacking hay.
