Ya'all are gonna laugh at this but I have an antique garden tractor with 500X16 tires on the back and one has a hole in the sidewall. It puckered with any amount of air pressure like the tube was going to blow out the side,. Nobody makes 500/16 - although Miller now offers a 550/16 traction tire it wouldn't match and I'd have to buy two and that would cost $240. Not gonna happen. Now the goody! It is a very low pressure - low speed setup so I broke the tire down and removed the tube. If you are working with a more modern tubless tire buy a tube to fit the tire. I aired the tube up to where there are no wrinkles but NO BIGGER THAN THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE. Clean the tube good [I use carb. cleaner] and let dry. Then wrap duct tape around the tube tight enough to hold the tube in that size even if it [later, when remounted] has more pressure. I only did about 6-8 inches of the radius of the tube and then remounted it all BEING SURE the tape lays right where the bad place is in the sidewall of the tire. Once remounted and aired up enough to use, I siliconed the bad spot on the tire to seal out sunlight and moisture. Been holding for several years without trouble or any bulging at the bad spot.

It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
