When replacing pistons or rings how do you guys do it on something like a MM 705? Do you remove the oil pan, fit the jugs and put the pistons in from the top or do you lower the jugs onto the pistons while still attached to the crank? I think it would be possible to lower the jugs onto the pistons and much quicker but much more likely to break rings. Is there a piece of equipment you can use to compress the rings as you lower the jugs, I have one the works if you are lowering the pistons but doesnt split for removal if done the other way. I did think it would be possible to turn the crank until both pistons were the same height, jamb them somehow, put electrical tie straps around each ring to compress them then gently lower the jugs. Virtually none of our engines have removable jugs in Scotland. Any better ideas welcome. Thanks Bill
