I had the JD 5020 I had set at 185 PTO Horse power with a Turbo and intercooler off of a JD 4630. It ran the forage chopper quite well. The 531 engine was a good engine if you did not over lug it. The valve would not take the ehat if lugged and turned up too high of horse power.
The PTO clutches where dry with all mechanical linkage. As they wore you needed to adjust them so they still locked up hard. Most guys would not take the time to do this and when they would slip it did not take long for them to burn out. While chopping hard I might set mine up twice each week.
