Just bought a Dodge Nitro and have fitted a tow bar but as yet havent done the socket wiring. Obviously I need to link in the braking lights, turn signals and tail lights to the socket that allows me to connect the trailer plug, I have wiring diagrams for this so should be easy. I also have a relay which I was told to fit to protect car wiring system which seems simple to link into the trailer wiring. My question is can I just use a bulb and probes to identify what wires to connect to on the car harness. Can I just remove the rear light cluster each side, identify which wires feed the turn signals, brake and rear lights and connect up. Are there any problems to look out for? Any advice appreciated.
