: My friend Dave just showed up with a (he says) : Shaw tractor. Same size as a Cub or MH Pony, : B&S 1-lunger about 12 hp, automotive disk-type : clutch, differential, no hydraulics. It has : band brakes on the shafts from the differential : (power then goes thru step-down gears to rear : wheels - like a Farmall 300/350). The cavities : for the brakes are filled with oil - and we : can't tell if they should be. Any experience : or anyone know who might stock a manual? The Shaw tractor was built in three models in the late 40's and early 50's by the Shaw Mfg. Co. of Galesburg, Kansas. The one Dave has is probably a Model R7 which had a 7.7 hp 22.97 cu in Briggs & Stratton engine. The other two models were the ZA-12FM which had a 6 hp 17.8 cu in Wisconsin engine, and the Model HY8 which had a 9 hp 41.3 cu in Wisconsin engine. There may also have been other models before or after these. Good luck on finding a manual.
