Okay, use a voltmeter and check the dc voltage going to your coil when the switch is on and off. When the switch is on, you should have dc voltage. When the switch is off, you should not. You don't need to run the tractor to check this. Plus, you said generator? Did you connect the field? Generator output is connected thru ammeter to battery? Please repost when you fix it. : I'm no master mechanic, which explains my error. : I ordered a new wiring harness for my "M". I had already taken the old wires off. : When I got the new wiring harness I could not figure out how to hook everything up. : I got the starter motor, battery and start switch hooked up. : I got the tractor running but it continues to run when I turn the key off. (Yes, when I turn the key off.) : Where I'm a bit fuzzy is the connections between the generator, ampmeter, and key switch. : If someone could direct me I would be obliged.
