New springs are available from the CNH dealer for about $34 each. I would just replace the bad one. Might as well buy the two seals and two orings while you are there. They are competetive on prices. Replace the lower seal (below the lower thrust bearing) while you have the column apart. A little pitting on the sector gears isn't the end of the world. They are a low speed gear so no friction wear. Yes replace the sector shaft seals. They can also be had from CNH. Put the seals in first grease good and then install the sector shafts. No special driver needed that way. Can't say about the sector bushings from here. Generally if I can feel any wear by wobbling the shaft in the bushing it is time to replace them. But I've never had to yet. Get the paper gasket for the top of the lower box too. They generally break apart. When you get it done replace the oil fill plug with a zerk and pump in two tubes of John Deere corn head grease into the lower case. You want to buy: 1 X #28 lower seal 1 X #44 upper seal 1 X #24 paper gasket 2 X #18 sector shaft seal 2 X #32 Oring 4 X #17 felt washer
