The thing is most farmers at the intro of the Ferguson system had a complete lineup of equipment from the row crop tractor era that started in the 1920's or even the standard tractors that came before. Some also had horse drawn equipment. Very few could afford to update their complete equipment line at once to take full advantage of the Ferguson system. Grandpa had quite a bit of horse drawn equipment years after he acquired the M and he also had an Oliver 80 he bought new in 1932 or 1933. I can remember a New Idea horse drawn rake and a New Idea horse drawn rake still around when I was a kid in the 1960's. The spreader was "retired" and I do remember dad raking hay with the old rake behind the 4010 in a pinch one time.
