Was supposed to have yesterday off and the wife and I planned to tidy up around one of the little paddock/stall areas to get ready for weaning the foals soon... Had a late night "hey you" on Friday to work Saturday so wife decided to handle it herself... Stihl BC and an old lawnmower are the tools of choice.I get a call about midmorning that the lawnmower stopped and the blade is making noise.Kinda expected that sooner or later because the framework is in old/ruff shape.
No problem, go across to the PX and talk an old buddy (manager) into an end of summer discount on the cheap model that wasn't selling anyway.
Put my simple $80 mower together, add oil, get it in the car, put a sign in the window of the office, and zoom home and put gas in the mower/fire it up at the pasture. All good. Zoom by the house and tell SWMBO it's there and back to work all in 30 minutes.
2 hours later, I get a call..... Sum up the call as a "you better have this junk back at the store tomorrow" mowed 10 minutes and it quite and won't start and there is something broke and hanging underneath and there is something loose and in the way on the handle....
Can't leave again, so she does sumpin else... Got home and did a couple things and went to load up the mower. Looked under it and there was a piece of stretched out spring from an electric fence gate hook hanging on the blade. Removed it, hit the primer bulb, and started right up. Mowed the rest of the area and went home. Asked what happened, she was mowing, went to move something and it quit, then she couldn't start it. Asked her if she had held the safety shutoff lever... and she said "the what lever?"
It's all good now. She has a lot on her mind tryin to find her new stallion and she had a pretty stressful week at work. And I usually don't turn her loose by herself with machines....
Takin me to dinner tonight after work too.... Told her if she don't, I's gonna tell about it on her facebook page :roll:
