Oliverguy, I think you will find that Kohler makes at least 2 kinds of engines. I have a 20 hp v-twin command. It has hydraulic lifters and an industrial design, oil pressure switch, oil filters. Only have 1400 hours on it, 8 years old. No issues yet.
A friend has the cheaper Kohler on a sears mower. The engine threw a rod with less than 400 hours.
Please ask your service guy if all Kohlers are made the same. I think there are quality Kohlers and cheap one for the Sears box store market. Post back and let me know.
