:John: You need a25 watt resistor sold at any International Dealer. It's a ceramic job about a half inch square and 3 inches long.A metal mounting bracket encircles it. The starter will work fine, just don't hang on it too long.
I've several conversions like this. Don't forget to convert your light to 12 Volt bulbs.
