I'm sure he would have had pretty harsh words for anyone that told him he was throwing money away fixing up his old Oliver. He gets real defensive when I ask how much it actually cost to fix it up. I wasn't knocking him at all. He likes to tell people to restore old machines when others warn it could cost a fortune. Sometimes it is best to abandon a project because it would cost a fortune. If you found a UDLX and it would cost $50,000 to restore but be worth $150,000, it would be worth restoring. Spending $6000 on a tractor worth only $1500 when you're done wouldn't be advisable unless it had sentimental value. Advising others to restore but not revealing the true costs and time involved in your project isn't providing any assistance to anyone with a similar project. Lou doesn't seem to understand this logic and that is a big reason why he takes such exception with me. As for him being so critical of Allan and then Larry, I'm just pointing out that it was uncalled for and out of line. Nobody asked his opinion or forced him to look at the post in the first place.
