I have known many who claimed sucess while following the almanac's reccomended planting dates but until now I had to plant when I had the time.
Kids gave me volume 196 so I have been looking through it. Here's a few upcoming dates.
Jan 1-3 Best for killing weeds, briars, poison ivy and other plant pests.
Jan 11 Good for planting sweet corn, beans and peppers.
Jan 14-16 Extra good for planting peppers, tomatoes, peas and other vine crops.
Every herbicide I have used clearly says plants should be vigorusly growing. Do any of you have green poison ivy now?
If these planting dates are real,it's no wonder my garden wilts about the time it reaches full production since I plant 2 to 3 months later and still have to cover plants for frost protection.
Am I waiting too long getting out the gate planting in North Texas? Where can you plant the things above in January?

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
