If the regulator looking think is mounted on top of the generator and the generator
has 3 brushes, it is simply a cutout not a full voltage regulator. If so, you can
try grounding the "F" terminal of the generator and if the generator is OK, it will
go into high charge rate. For more details, read the YT past article on 3 brush
charging systems.
