I really do not think a "pace maker" has anything to do with it. While she does not have any mental issues she does not want any life support or any devise that will prolong her life artificially. While she will take a pill to lower her blood pressure a mechanical devise is out of the question.
She can still drive; cook her own food; and do household chores. I feel she thinks by having a pace maker installed it will prolong her life to where she will be in a nursing home one day soon and she does not want that.
I can really understand where she is coming from because I feel the same way. Better to die in a car wreck quickly than sitting there day after day withering away slowly. It is just real hard to take as a son.
