Finger curls. 1) Fingers straight, make 90 angle with fingers straight up relative to wrist. 2) Curl/roll fingers to palm of hand. 3) With fingers rolled into palm up roll palm 90 angle in opposite direction.

There are no muscles in your hands, the muscles are in the forearm and pull tendons to the attach points in the fingers. This exercise "races the tendons full circuit" through the choke points in the hand. When you normally work with your hands all the "wear" happens over a little bit of the tendon. At these wear points inflammation causes the tendon to swell. Swelling causes the pain.
