First of all thanks for the great replys from those who enjoy helping others. No comment to any derogatory replies I recieved bashing JDs. I followed the advice of several here and found that the factory had not run down a ground wire in the alternator circuitry. As it got dirty, the wire lug made less and less good contact with the frame. The wire lug was dangling between the bolt head and the frame within about a 1/4" to 5/16" gap. Ran it down with the ol' socket and I'm good to go! Honest mistake at the factory. I'm just glad to have that scare over with such a easy sol'n. Dealer supplied new head lamps at no charge.
