Hmmm. I think I recommended you put a filter with a drainback valve on it.

For now I predicted correctly. I hope it still works for you long term. I learned this on one of my Vortec 454s. As I had a bunch of older filters laying around. We use to buy them by the case when drag-racing. After changing the oil/filter in the work truck I noticed it took a long long time for the oil pressure to come back up. Newer 454s have the filter horizontal. That's why you got to have the drainback valve.
PF25/35 is now a PF1218 (no drainback) "old school small and big block"
PF1232 (valve) for horizontal apps. or the equivalent.
