Okay, an update to the ever continuing saga of the unwanted start up top end clik clak in my 454 Chevy Vortec I WILL NOT TOLERATE THAT EITHER GRRRR
Bought this 2000 RV with 454 Chevy Vortec in Texas with 30,000 miles,,,,,,,,Drove it 1200 miles home ran perfect no engine noise at start up whatsoever,,,,,,,Engine calls for 5 W 30 but me n Billy Bob n Bubba wanted to change oil so I added Mobil 1 10 W 30 and a Quart of Lucas Synthetic Stabilizer (its not heavy n thick like the non synthetic) and a short 1 pint regular (no anti drainback valve) oil filter,,,,,,,,,,,,No noise UNTIL 1200 miles later at which time it developed a top end light Clik Clak on start up that might take 5 mins or more before it went away..........I added a Quart of Rislone and that seemed to help buttttttt it still did it now n then at start up but didnt seem to last as long.......
Sooooo after talkin it over with Billy Bob and Bubba and yall here plus a few RV and Chevy forums I say to myself,,,,,Self, it didnt do that when you bought it and only AFTER the Mobil 1 10W30 and Lucas and 1200 miles did it start HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Today I changed oil,,,,,,,,Used Castrol Syntec Full Synthetic 5 W 30 (NOT Mobil 1 10W 30 this time),,,,,,,Added one pint of Marvel Mystery Oil,,,,,,USED A NAPA GOLD FULL SIZE ONE QUART FILTER EQUIPPED WITH THE ANTI DRAINBACK VALVE which is supposed to stop oil from running back down on shut down and help reduce a dry start?????? Yeah right !!!!
Of course, no start up noise now and I wont know much unitl its driven some and has to set a while. After I drive to Texas this fall I will know if the problem is cured or not, wish me luck........I have Mobil 1 10 W30 in the Onan Genny, Im gonna take a look at what Onan calls for instead of what me n Billy Bob n Bubba used lol
Ol John T and all I gotta crawl under it again, Im afraid a bug may have gotten my clean oil or tranny pans or zerks dirty again lol lol

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
