The wifey's lillies are huge and fragrant, in the flower gardens.
the vegie garden has been less than expected. Very poor germination of pea, corn, carrot, and bean seed. Bedding plants, such as broccoli, califlower, and especially peppers have done poorly. We were inundated by hard shelled snails earlier, with all of the rain in June, and now the Jap beatles are here in hords. Can't win. We had beautiful huge strawberries developing in early June, but the excessive rain blighted them, and they all turned brown. The corn is small and very yellow inspite of a heavy shot of urea earlier, and we're keeping our fingers crossed on the Mator crop. Tators look good, as well as the onions. the Sunflowers are the real highlite, about 13' high, but they don't fill the pantry and freezer. Beets are looking good and we have harvested and frozen enough spinich and chard for the coming winter. Got 3 pickings of peas, and reseeded for a second crop, but only about 10% germinated. I bought "Page Seed" this year, never again. The Adirondack Redneck wood shed, has grown a bit and is now 74' long. Got room to get all my tractors and stuff under cover now?? My stash of used and leftover steel roofing material is about depleted and I am resorting to using peices and splicing them in. Loren, the Acg.
