Interesting to hear about the garden, sorry to hear that its not doing as well as you would like. I think I did ok, like most years, but the big boy tomatoes will probably produce the least, jet star doing well, no signs of blight or any real problems, just the lower portion of the plants yellowed out a bit, not a lot of rapid growth, cherry tomatoes doing, well, I have seen better. I've never grown broccoli until this year, seems to be doing well, though I have some decay, pulled 1 or 2 plants, but I am getting nice regrowth, it sure is good, and a real easy side for most meals !
Bell peppers, one variety is 3' tall, but just starting to flower, well I have one big green one I am waiting to turn, never can figure out why they take so long, egg plant, the leaves look like they were hit with a shotgun with fine shot, never grew much, they got the same fertilizer as the peppers too. I think that June rain just washed too much of the nutrients out, I put in the same amount usually, nice layer of 5 year old decayed hay, fines from rotted sections of logs, a benefit of processing firewood, soil was marginal but improved over the years. I did see those snails, 10 miles east of here, loaded with them, japanese beatles were here, but now gone, but they left their mark, especially on the cucumbers, and some on the potatoes, but those should be fine.
Corn, one side needs nitrogen, 64 day looks ok, topped out, will see what I can do to help it along, did get a lot of grass underneath, did cultivate, but its in the rows, hard to get out, and it is shaded out too. Sweet corn is a pain to grow, I'll be mulching and using more fertilizer next year, the area thats doing ok was in sod for as long as I can remember, turned out to be nice soil under it, other side too many rocks and clay it seems. All in all, one can only try their best against stacked odds, weather, critters, blight, and what have you.
The shed and that dry area for the tractors and wood, I am envious, LOL, that ought to be a big improvement, I am sure you will enjoy the new amenities this winter !
