: Electric impact wrench has removed all head bolts from John Deere "L" (1941) except one. Have been putting penetrating oil for about a week and keep trying impact wrench (even alternating tightening and loosening) with no luck. I've dealt with broken off bolts before so have been careful not to get in this situation. Have you had success with heat? If so, do you heat the bolt, the head, both or what? Any suggestions based on your experience would be appreciated. I would try to get the flat side of a screwdriver underneeth the head of the bolt and then use the impact wrench.(If the bolt is loose or broken that is) If it is rusted solid I would probably try heating the head of the bolt, but not too hot....If that doesn`t work you may have to twist it off and replace it. (If it`s rusted that bad it should be replaced anyway. Then with the head removed you can use easy outs or weld a nut to the top of the bolt and remove it. Be patient You`ll get it !!!!
