We value our transportation fuels, they are the high dollar fuels.
Coal, natural gas, propane are good cheap fuels, not easily used for transport. Yes I know propane fleet vehicles, for short range daily commutes, specialized situations works, and yes we can use wood smoke to run a vehicle, but for general transportation as we are used to, these fuels are not practical.
Being able to conver these energy sources into something you can put in a regular vehicle fuel tank is a value added product, a better value of fuel. Ethanol and soybean oil work in current technology on the road, are available to all of us, and create a higher valued energy from a lower valued energy source.
So you are actually listing a plus for ethanol.
Some day we will find better transportation fuel. 200 years ago we bought and sold whale blubber and coal gas for some of our energy needs. Today those dont even register with us.
In another 100 years, gasoline or diesel may just be an old persons memories, as we use, safe liquid ng, or we use the new 20-fold density batteries, or whatever develops by then.
Today, we have ethanol and soybean oil. I'd guess they are not perfect, but what other working alternatives do we have? ???
The comments on freedom and all is a whole different topic, has nothing to do with ethanol at all. Whatsoever. I'm with you on a smaller govt, 100%. But we aren't there, that has nothing to do with ethanol, you are going off in different directions because you don't like ethanol and looking for straws to pull.

Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
