JD 1010 transmission noise

I hit a stump with my bushhog and the backlash took out several gears in the transmission. I've just got it back together and the transmission seems to whine louder than it used to. I am pretty sure this is due to the different wear patterns of the gears that I used. I had to use a new cluster gear and the rest are used gears from three different transmissions. Have any of you had any experience using used gears in a transmission? Is it likely to get better or worse? I would have liked to use all new gears but unfortunatly they don't make all of them anymore. Any information or insight would be appreciated. Thanks, RT
