I think the government has lost its mind, now I am not familiar with all the details, just received and briefly read this letter. FMCSA must be cracking down, going through the states to get to drivers, making sure they have medical cards, certify the driving they do, and or apply exemptions etc. etc.
Some of the finer points:
1.) If I do not reply in 60 days, I lose my CDL
2.) If I do not meet the criteria (read all the fine details) I must downgrade my drivers license.
There is interstate, intrastate, non excepted, excepted definitions of the first two kinds of driving.
Ok, so piping down a bit, I understand, I do have a current medical card, am in good health and no restrictions etc. but the ironic thing is, I do not drive commercially, or do so often as of late, so technically, and ironically, I do not meet the criteria and should downgrade my license. I keep and maintain it for a reason, I've got substantial experience, and safe mileage to go with it, one of the reasons, I do keep it is being a back up driver for a couple of people I've worked for, though I've not been called to drive in years.
So I'll just fill out the form per what they want, copy my current medical card, and keep on trucking, even though I'm not LOL !
So y'all who have these licenses' have you gotten this letter?, seems it applies to all 50 states.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
