Field perimeters with hedgerows, always fun, poked, stabbed, smacked, you pull vines down with limbs and other things, tractor front wheel riding up a leaner, and how many other things similar. I had to do a lot of clearing here some years back to establish the perimeter to the original hedgerow, in long overgrown fields now woods. One thing about these size tractors, you can get into and under things and places no other tractor can, also get you into trouble if not careful. I find with the front end loader on mine, it was the tool to have, I can push and clear then cut, no exhaust stack to worry about, I've had as stick poke into my distributor cap and it destroyed a rotor, pulled a shabby hydraulic return hose off the reservoir, but nothing serious, always possible though. Then you get into an open field on the flat, its much more enjoyable, away from the edges of the tree lines etc.
I can imagine, both legs up in the air, til you pass that snake, and I suppose, though he may not know what he was striking at, very possible given the approximation of ones foot and leg on a tractor this size and how far one of those snakes can reach, good not to panic, but I'd wanted as much distance from that snake as possible, both feet would have been off the pedals if were me til he passed by !
