I also am near 100% CFL, they run cool and cheap,+ last a long time. In the few areas where I need instant bright light, I use GE hybrid bulbs that are an incandescent halogen bulb set inside a spiral CFL. the halogen comes on instant bright, after 1 minute the halogen light turns off and the now warm CFL takes over the duty. ($5 at Walmart). Just recently, Home Depot stores started selling Cree brand (9.5 watt actual, 60 watt equivelent) LED bulbs for $12. That price was the tipping point for me where I could justify trying LED for special locations. Have them in use for 6 months now. They are instant on, full bright no matter how cold(has been below 0 once already) They run very cool and look / light like a 60 watt incandescent light. I perfer and buy the yellow looking warm white ones (2700K light temp). They also sell the highter light temp ones for those who perfer a whiter light. I hope their claim of 20 year life is true :)
