Finishing mower purchase

I plan on buying a 5' PTO-driven finishing mower in the next week. I have considered buying a new name brand (Land Pride, Woods, and so on), used name brand (if I can find them), or a new cheaper model from Central Tractor. Does anyone have opinions about whether the name brands are worth the extra money? How about the chances I would take on a used model? I have been getting prices around $1400 for new name brand, around $800 for used name brand, and the Central tractor model is on sale for $899. I will be mowing around 3 acres on a regular basis.
