Not entirely on topic but for us farmers who live in the badlands it is of interest and concern. Another Amish buggy hit by a car last evenning about 6.30 pm. The roads were bare but the sky was overcast. No one was seriouly injured. I have Amish friends and I respect their way of life but they can no longer refuse to properly put lights on their buggies. I know they believe that God will watch out for them and if they get wrecked or injured it is God's will. However, they must be concerned about the rest of the people who, when involved in these after dark collisions, are emotional wrecks even though not injured. I am aware that the Amish will not read this post but they do get informed about these concerns somehow and they may have discussions about this issue. I hope they understand that if they want us to respect their way of life they need to consider ours also.
Now, when driving your tractor on the highway in winter time remember cars can't slow down as quick and you should use your lights so they see you much quicker and have time to avoid you. Keep off the roads after dark when pulling an unlighted implement or wagon. Several people were injured nearby when the ran into a manure wagon at dusk.

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
