Hi, I've got an 1800 Oliver A series that has taken to knocking in the rear of the engine.. Could be a wrist pin or the skirt is cracked or broken. I was going to over haul it this fall, but things seldom go as they are supposed to! I was looking at the housing. Is it possable to put a chevy sm block in instead. Just to get it going for now. I know the stroke is much shorter and the govener looks like it may not tie in.. But would give me time to over haul the original motor. Also I was told that I couldn't drop the pan with out pulling the motor.. Is this true. I have looked at it and would say I could possable get it down.. but it would be really close. Would like to replace the offending piston till fall. Any help would be apritiated. Especally overhaul hints as to what tricks there are in over hauling one of these engines Thanks Catherine
