thanks for clearing all that up, makes more sense now. the plan is to get two or three calves, raise them to a certain weight, butcher one for meat for the family and sell the rest of em, hoping for a small profit, i realize the profit margin is slim but i do have a few acres to bale hay with, not quite certain on corn yet but at worst i will pay one of my relatives a certain amount per 250 bushel wagon. also i have no problem eating a pet cow lol eating it would be the reason i bought it.
another question, i have a very large lawn (takes a full day with a 64 inch decked mower to mow) and was wondering, since we have a lawn sweeper is it possible to feed the cow the grass that is cut from the lawn, the grass may have a few weeds in it but it wont be sprayed with any chemicals or fertilizer, and if need be the grass can lay out and dry for a day or two, i was told i can not bag the grass everytime as it robs the grass from its nutrients and will make it wither and brown
