: : : : I have a Massey-Harris 30 that I restored over the past nine months.Put it all back together and it started and ran fine. After taking it for a spin the other day I parked in the driveway and shut it down. When I went to start it,nothing.
: : : : When pushing the starter I can hear a faint spark either by the battery or the switch.I took the battery to get tested and it was holding a 6 volt charge but had no cranking amps, replaced with a new one.
: : : : Put in a new starter switch, had the starter tested, the generator was rebuilt, all new wires in the control panel test ok,battery cables test good, ground ok.
: : : : When I put the fully charged battery in and hit the starter, still nothing.Put the charger on again and it's totally drained.
: : : : Can't figure why it was running good and now DOA.
: : : : Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

: : : Alan, not familiar with your machine, but does it have a voltage regulator with points? Sounds like they are not opening when you are shutting down. That would drain the battery in an hour easily
: : The cut-out was tested and is ok

: I found that my Ign switch had a "leak" in it. untill I replace it I disconect the Battery.

Alan in Wash, battery was disconnected after every try. Keep the ideas coming, we'll hit it yet!!

Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
