A good friend of mine bought a new Case 1570 in the late 1970s. He had nothing but troubles out of the tractor. Mainly transmission and hydraulic issues. He is a careful operator too. He had such a bad luck with it he only kept it a few years and switched to JD after that. His stuff is pretty cream puff today when it is traded or sold.
Another fellow just a few miles away from me bought a Case 1370 new and is still running it yet today. He never has had any trouble out of it.
I looked it up and they seem like much the same tractor. Engine is the same 504 and the transmission looks the same in my service books.
Did Case just push the power a little too much on the 1570 or did my friend just get a "lemon"????
I will say this. The 504 Case motor seems to be a great motor. There are a lot of them around and rarely see much engine trouble out of them. It is usually transmission or torque limiter issues that I see needing repair.
The 1175 seems to just about never need any repairs to the drive line. There are several around here being used on tub grinders and feeder wagons. I know of one that had over 20,000 hours and the engine is still the original.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
