It happened very differently here. We had a half dozen guys that were around a lot during the day. it was decided to hire a full timer to help with day time, but volunteers were still doing most of it. Then one deputy quit because he couldn't get along with the full timer, and then the chief got sick and had to get done, and the other deputy didn't want it so they gave the chief's job to the full time kid. He is very prideful and insecure and he didn't want any of the older guys around and did everything he could to make it unpleasant for us. He finally discharged myself and another guy, then four others left soon after. Now it is mostly young single guys and very few respond from 6:00 PM friday until 6:00 AM Monday. Now it is two full timers and usually less than six responding.
