EHVS-he is in the photo of two troopers in long coats and fur hats on horseback in the snow. As I recall his horeses name in the photo was Bell Boy. Photo has really made the rounds.He had some funny stories to tell of the old days. He enlisted in May 1930 and retired Dec.31,1969.The other gent in the picture had 43 years in.
When "B"Troop headquarters was moved to Saranac Lake,the old barracks was sold and is a professional office building now.Still appears to be well maintained.The newest station,moved into in the last 18 months is just about a mile west of the old barracks,the one you remember.
As a kid I knew many of he old timers and will tell you these were some terrific men.
After my stint in the air force,'61-'65,and I started work in the civilian world down on Long Island I'd sometimes run into a retired trooper who knew my "old man".
