: Your brake is probably rusted together. New brakes are the ones that have a better chance of becoming rusted overnight because a brake that has been used for awhile has an accumulation of brake dust in it. Try some oil on the shaft that the pedal is connected to,if this gets rusty it will prevent brake operation. And yes,the brake CAN become rusty overnight, especially new brakes like yours. Apparently it was not rusted together. We tried the BFH. Did not work one bit. We ended up having to pull the casting off the shaft and discovered that one of the adjusting pins had broken - I could tell before the entire assembly was apart. There was sufficent lubrication inside and there was sufficient brake dust, so I don't think it had rusted. Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to make sure the other side is oiled and am going to stop setting the brake for the night!
