: My aunt has a '62 Ford 3000 model tractor which I'd : like to convert to an alternator, since the gener : ator isnt doing the job. Unfortunately that will not : allow the use of the hour-meter/tach, but sacrifices : must be made. Has anyone already done this conversion, : and can recommend a specific type (GM, etc.) of : alternator that will mount easily without many : bracket mods? I have several old GM internal-reg alts : that I can use, so I'd prefer to us one of them, unless : another type fits easier and lines up perfectly. Any : hints or tips appreciated. Thanks, Jerry Jerry - Suggest you look at Central Tractor's rebuilt alternator cat #92001-233. It's a standard GM-Delco, externally regulated unit, and has the rear end shaft threaded to connect to a mechanical tach/hourmeter. Many tractors (Case, M-F) made in the 60's and early 70's and equipped with a tach use these alternators. Bob
