MN Scott: We carry an inferred thermometer. When pushing the baler we stop and check the temperate on all the bearings. Any that are running hotter are replaced ASAP. Belts are sized each winter. While the belts are out we spin each roller and make sure each bearing is smooth and quiet. The pickups are gone through every winter as well. As soon as the cam tracks show much wear we replace them and the rollers. Chains replaced every 10K and sprockets every other chains.
We also have the automatic oilers on both balers. They are kind of messy but the chains and sprockets last twice as long.
The balers are blown off daily with compressed air and washed after each cutting of hay. The outside we keep waxed. The dirt does not stick as much on the sid sheets if you keep them waxed and washed.
