Mike I will disagree on the JD 2755. I have a JD 6400 and it is head an shoulders better than any of the older Mannheim tractors. That JD 6310 should be a much better tractor than a JD 2755. If your friend is having issues then I wonder about how it was cared for before he got it.
The engines will start much better. The wet clutch in itself is a BIG jump ahead. Having all of the shifting levers off the floor makes getting on and off much easier too. Much faster hydraulics than the JD 2755. Simpler too. You no longer have the hydraulic pump out the front of the motor.
My JD 6400 has over 16500 hours on it now. I have done very little other than normal maintenance to it.
I had a JD 2640 that I like how it operated but I had contentious problems of one kind of another with it. Mainly hydraulics and the steel internal lines in the transmission. I think I had it split 11 or 12 times in the ten years I owned it. I bought it at 1600 hours and sold it with under 5000 hours on it.
