I go to Dallas about once a month and get to see the crops across our state. Went on labor day weekend and the crop harvest had just started with corn. Beans were still green and you could see very little white on the cotton. Went back this past weekend and took some pictures.
Did not see any corn. It is 100% harvested from what I saw. Saw lots of bare fields where corn had been.
Some where even growing back with weeds and what looked like volunteer corn or growing back from the roots.
Beans are all dried. Some have been harvested; some were being harvested; and some were still in the fields.
I saw one small field of cotton that had been picked but most was still in the fields.
Some even has a ways to go before it will be ready.
The sugar cane harvest has started. It will be Christmas or New Years before they have all the cane harvested.
The short stuff has been harvested and is growing back for next years crop. The tall stuff needs to be harvested yet. A truck hauling cane to the mill.
While I did not see many rice fields (did not go to that part of the state) everyone I saw was harvested.
The port of Baton Rouge. Just one of many elevators where they load ships with corn and beans.

In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
