Current Michigan RESIDENTIAL rates (DTE) are about 12-13.25 cents/kwh depending upon volume, plus a service fee, IIRC. And I agree with others that it will probably get worse as the tree-hugger sponsored mandates kick in. If external_link and his Al Gore cohorts had their way, gas prices would not be so low, either. They must be FURIOUS that the American public is paying under $3/gallon. It amazes me how a party and their president can say they're for the common folk and do everything in their power to make life more expensive (health care, energy rates,etc) for the working guy. Of course, they insulate their constituencies (low wage, proverty stricken, unemployable, etc) with subsidies that, again, affect the average working guy more than the 1% they so detest.
