I always use a 1000 cc amps in all of my vehicles including the tractors-- that will physically fit. Gets real cold up here in Northern Ont. Truck and tractor shops seem to carry premium batteries at a fair price , but Walmarts okay for the average battery. Years ago I bought Cat batteries rated at 1000 cca for starting bulldozers . You can usually tell a good battery by it's weight -- boy those cat batteries were heavy and lasted along time .

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet).
