I think Bob is on to something. On the side of the inj. pump you'll see a long rocking lever that goes down to the advance mechanism, opposite side from the throttle hook up. With the truck running at idle, take a long screwdriver and push IN on the bottom of the rocking lever. IF the advance is doing its job properly, you should hear a VERY NOTICABLE rpm change.. On a reman unit, it will almost stall the engine.. IF you cant hear an rpm change, chances are the advance bore is worn to the point it needs to be reamed oversized and an o/s piston installed. You could try to advance the pump to engine timing slightly to compensate for the worn bore by loosening the 3 hold down bolts and rotating the pump slightly.. ITS NOT a FIX, but it will get the old farm truck purrin' again.. and you wont have to pull the pump.
